Hangashore

The final series created while completing an MA at the Royal College of Art, Hangashore is a collection of ropes and tools made to reflect seafaring equipment found in the three Maritime provinces of Canada. They have been constructed using a combination of traditional ropework and unexpected textile processes, and with unconventional materials which draw reference to the industrial quality of modern fishing gear. The tools from which they are made have also been constructed and modified in order to better understand the intricate craft of marlinespike seamanship and how it relates to other textile construction techniques.
